Capital Trees- Executive Director

Shelly Barrick Parsons is the Executive Director for the nonprofit Capital Trees. She was drawn to Capital Trees because of her love of getting outside to walk, to reflect,and to connect. For Shelly, green spaces build and sustain communities, teach us about our responsibility to be careful stewards of the natural world, and provide space for renewal and wellbeing.


Amy Wentz

Southside ReLeaf- Cofounder

Amy Wentz is the Cofounder of Southside ReLeaf, a community-based organization committed to environmental justice in South Richmond. Their goal is to improve the life expectancy and quality of life for Southside residents by increasing green spaces, reducing pollution and improving infrastructure. They believe in uplifting voices that are often unheard and people-powered advocacy to build climate resilient neighborhoods. In her full time work, she serves as the Director of Outreach and Engagement at The Commonwealth Institute.
