Community Lenten Series: “City of God”

St. Paul’s historic Lenten Lunch program is underway! This year’s program, “City of God,” will take place on Wednesdays ONLY throughout Lent.

This is an interfaith series, and will feature speakers from several different faith backgrounds, all from the City of Richmond.

Our series schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, March 6Imposition of Ashes for Ash Wednesday (no speaker, but there will be lunch)
  • Wednesday, March 13 – The Rev. Jeanne Pupke (First UU)
  • Wednesday, March 20Imam Ammar Amonette (Islamic Center of VA)
  • Wednesday, March 27 – The Rev. John Kinney (Ebenezer Baptist Church, Virginia Union University)
  • Wednesday, April 3Rabbi Michael Knopf (Temple Beth-El)
  • Wednesday, April 10 – The Rev. Andrew Terry (St. Peter’s Episcopal Church)

Lunch Menus

Lunches will be $9. Each Wednesday will feature two hot menu main dishes, and one cold menu dish. Desserts will be available for purchase as well. We welcome reservations for groups of six or more; please call the church office and let us know the size of your party and what day you would like to reserve space for lunch.

Here are the menus for each week:

Wednesday, March 6

  • HOT: Cheese Souffle w/vegetables
  • HOT: Thai Chicken over Rice
  • COLD: Chicken and cheese Tortellini Salad

Wednesday, March 13

  • HOT: Cheese souffle w/tomato, vegetables
  • HOT: Crab cakes, asparagus salsa, confetti rice, vegetables
  • COLD: Ginger chicken on mixed greens, mandarin oranges, toasted almonds, mini poppyseed muffins

Wednesday, March 20

  • HOT: Cheese souffle w/tomato, vegetables
  • HOT: Short rib Demi Glace, mashed potatoes, vegetables
  • COLD: Taco salad w/refried beans, hamburger, shredded cheddar, salsa, avocado, sour cream, corn chips

Wednesday, March 27

  • HOT: Cheese Soufflé w/Roasted Herb Tomatoes and Buttered Pesto Peas
  • HOT: Chicken Sausage Bolognese on Jasmine rice w/buttered pesto peas w/Garden Salad or Fresh Fruit
  • COLD: Mediterranean Shrimp Salad w/Fresh Fruit and Croissant

Wednesday, April 3

  • HOT: Cheese souffle w/baked crusty tomato and vegetable medley
  • HOT: Grilled salmon over wilted spinach with vegetable medley
  • COLD: Picnic plate w/tarragon chicken salad, petite roast turkey Roll, deviled Egg

 

Wednesday, April 10

  • HOT: Cheese Souffle w/tomato, vegetables
  • HOT: Pork tenderloin medallions, baked apples, sweet potatoes, green beans, batard
  • COLD: Crab cake slider w/house pickles, broccoli salad, fruit salad
