Confirmation marks the occasion on which a Bishop of the Diocese comes to lay hands on those who have made a decision to be members of the Episcopal Church. As well as an opportunity to renew the promised made at baptism, the laying on of hands itself symbolizes the spiritual connection between Jesus and the church today stretching over two thousand years. Young people reaching the age of discretion are invited to make a conscious decision to adopt the way of life offered to them as children, and adults joining the Episcopal Church may also be confirmed.
