The Rev. Benjamin P. Campbell / Pastoral Associate

Ben Campbell’s association with St. Paul’s goes back a long time. He’s celebrated the noonday Eucharist on Fridays for 40 years! During those years, Ben continued to preach, administer the sacraments, and challenge the people of St. Paul’s.

“Community transformation is what Christianity is about,” according to Ben. “As people reckon with what they really believe, you can feel the energy, you can feel the release of guilt and sense of hypocrisy.”

Besides being a priest and known civil rights activist in Richmond, Ben is also a father; a husband; a twin; a seventh-generation Virginian; the author of Richmond’s Unhealed History, and the founder of Richmond Hill, a residential Christian community and spiritual retreat center in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond.
