FAQ: Parking at St. Paul's

What is changing?

St. Paul's is closing and renovating its parking garage, starting June 1 and hopefully finishing in early September. Lanier, our garage management company, has planned several options. This renovation will include significant demolition and replacement of large portions of the garage.  As a result, the garage will be closed to all parking during construction this summer.

Where do we park on weekends?

St. Paul’s guests and parishioners can park in the open Lanier lot located on Franklin Street between 7th and 8th streets (just west of Subway) at no charge. We will post a sign at the entrance to the lot to help parishioners identify where to park.  Free street parking will continue to be available on Sunday.

What if I am visiting on a weekday?

Street parking is the preferred option, but the Edison Garage, which is located directly across 8th street from the entrance to our garage, will be available to accommodate up to 15 visitors at the weekday rate of $5.00 per hour for the first two hours up to a $30.00 daily maximum (a slightly lower rate is offered Saturday).  Parishioners, volunteers, and visitors who use this lot are welcome to submit the parking ticket for validation to the church staff member they are here to see or volunteer with at the time of the visit.  (Unfortunately, the submitted parking fees will be an expense to the church, unlike the current arrangement in our garage).

What if I am just dropping somebody off?

You may use the loading zone in front of the church for a quick drop off.  Please keep in mind that the loading zone is also utilized by our St. Paul's Van every Sunday

What about our monthly paid parkers?

St. Paul’s currently hosts 100 monthly parkers who will be displaced during the three month project. Lanier has secured 100 spaces at Second Presbyterian Church, and will offer this spots to our monthly parkers for a slightly discounted fee to accommodate them for the inconvenience of being relocated.

What are some other options?

This might be a great opportunity to connect with other St. Paul's parishioners and carpool, or to use public transportation.

The church van provides transportation during the summer months each Sunday starting with pick up at 9:15am at the Westminster Canterbury Courtyard and Tower Entrances. If you are interested in taking the church van to services, please contact: Sally Ray Griffith, or 804-339-4338 the Saturday prior to Sunday pick up.
